Rationale for the coin design
The shape of this commemorative coin design generally outlines the beloved national flower of Malaysia, the Hibiscus or ‘Bunga Raya’.
The 14 red and white stripes stretched horizontally over each of the petals show the various obstacles that we have faced before and after our nation’s independence.
The five blue circles represent the past 50 years of independence from external autonomy forces and our inherent ability to come together as one nation through constant growth. The feature that brings the focus together is the bright yellow star enclosed in the five blue circles. This star signifies a solid relationship, mutual harmony as well as tolerance & unity within its people to achieve one mission thus becoming a solid centre of nation building.
The winning entry will receive a RM20,000 cash prize and consolation prizes of RM1,000 will be awarded to each of the ten (10) shortlisted entries. Wish me luck to win this competition, folk!
